Grim Reaper tires
« on: November 23, 2008, 06:08:18 PM »

Has anyone seen these tire yet? They look like they may be a pretty good tire. We had a little issue with one this weekend but i think it was a faulty tire more than anything.
Anyone else have any experience or issues with them ?

Faulty tire...NAHHHHHHHHHHH Brother!  It was on none other than the "I never met a tree/rock I didn't love to hit" Porkchop Rhino!!!   THAT be the problem!   Grin

Seriously, looks like a tuff tire..esp for heavy sxs's...like the rhino/prowler/T-rex types....

I know they are a really heavy tire too, don't know how much axles will like them though, they still hav'nt released the weight on their site...

I currently run Mud Gear tires and like them pretty good, they are heavy too and have cut the side wall out of two of them, have run Big Horns also and slightly cut them where they were repairable, even thogh I loved them they do great all around except for mud they will not clean at all, think next year when I wear my Mud Gears more think I may try the new Maxxis Zillas they are the lil brother to the Mudzilla, supposed to be really light but i'm afraid how fast they will wear and how easy they will be to cut "how did they get them so light"Huh! they are a good lookin tire, has any one had any experience with them???

My mud gears have almost 3000 miles on them they do wear great, and I know Dudley put a blue million on his Big horns too...

Chop has had LOTS and LOTS of trouble with the little brother to the zillas!  That's what he just took off when he put the 8ply reapers on!  I KNOW that the last trip to Brimstone HCRR1 put like 24 plugs in one of the little zillas....and the very first trip he had them at brimstone...Chop was bringing up the rear of the pack...about 30 bikes...we were about 2 miles in the trail one..and YUP....with only 3 miles on the zilla lites....CHOP had a side wall flat with them.

BTW..the next day..had two more flats running them...the little brother of the zillas.

Now granted....this is CHOP....CHOP who never met a tree he didn't hit..or a rock he couldn't manage to rub the wrong way!  LOL LOL

AHH, 10-4, I was afraid they may be a lil thin to shed some weight, makes me think twice on'em now, and they say Big horns are hard to cut and I've done that too, maybe me & Chop may drive about the same!

I just replaced 2 bighorns with about 12 plugs in them Roll Eyes so you all aren't alone in the tire trouble area Grin

I do still like the Reapers , i guess we'll see how they hold up on Chops next ride.

Chop and I rode together yesterday ( I showed him our honeyhole)....his new tires did a great job...I have ITP XTR's and I had to winch myself from the bottom of one hill....Chop made except for the last 10 feet and then I had to hook a rope  to him Grin....The tires held up good during impact too...Chop hit several trees, a couple rocks and also ran into the rear of my Rhino once Shocked....I'd buy the tires based on what I saw during our ride...If they can hold up to Chop I should get years of use from them Cheesy Grin

Riding with Dr Dirt and Porkchop on Friday was some great riding. Chops new tire with the tube in it held up well, we covered some tough terrain pretty quickly and they dug in everywhere they needed to.

Dirt....now you cannot say, I haven't seen a deer anywhere near my camp in the time I have ridden there.

Anybody got a link or a store to check out these tires. The 300 Ho is needing some new skins.
